Advising Texas to Eliminate Fossil Fuels Is Foolhardy

AUSTIN, Texas (Jan. 13, 2021)Apparently, the Texas Alliance of Energy Producers is the poster child for holding on to an antiquated notion that fossil fuels are essential to modern life. After all, the Houston Chronicle used a picture of our buttons for its January 4 online editorial titled “The transition from fossil fuel is an opportunity for Texas.” As President of the Alliance serving 3,000 members, I felt the need to respond.

75% think 2021 will be better or about the same for the industry, but respondents also anticipate a fight against federal overreach

Upstream Oil and Gas Employment Loss Worse than Previously Reported According to Texas Alliance of Energy Producers

Job estimates reflected in October 2020 Texas Petro Index, which declined for the 20th straight month to 139.9

AUSTIN, Texas (Dec. 9, 2020)—Oil and gas industry job losses in Texas are worse than previously reported, based on updated employment estimates from the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas and the Texas Alliance of Energy Producers.

Texas Petro Index Remains in Decline, But Rigs and Employment Have Turned the Corner

AUSTIN, Texas (Nov. 2, 2020)—The Texas upstream oil and gas economy remains in contraction through the third quarter 2020 according to the Texas Alliance of Energy Producers’ Texas Petro Index (TPI). The statewide exploration and production activity index declined for the 19th straight month in September, falling to 145.4 for the month down from 150.4 in August, and down by 27.5% compared to the September 2019 TPI of 200.6. Most recently, the Texas Petro Index peaked at 213.8 in February 2019, and has lost some 32% of its value since then. The TPI achieved its all-time record high of 313.9 in November 2014.
